Gitit, what is the source of the name, and what does it mean and mean?

The locality of Gatit is associated with the Aravot (Jordan Valley) Regional Council.

On the eastern slopes of the central mountain range, where the landscape and breathtaking spaces do not have a large population and no air pollution, pioneers established a settlement about 50 years ago. The people who moved there made the wilderness bloom and turned the arid desert green.

Every Thursday, as we said this morning, a Song of the Day recited in the morning prayer, chapter five of Psalms, begins with the description of the poet Assaf who was in the days of David who played the musical instrument, Gatit.

Maj. Gen. and later Minister Rehavam Zeevi, looked out over the area and saw in his eyes a form of the musical instrument the Gitit.

As it is said three times in the Book of Psalms: Chapters 8, 81, 84 in verse 1

לַמְנַצֵּחַ עַל הַגִּתִּית מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד


To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.

לַמְנַצֵּחַ עַל הַגִּתִּית לְאָסָף



To the conductor of the altar to gather

לַמְנַצֵּחַ עַל הַגִּתִּית לִבְנֵי קֹרַח מִזְמוֹר

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.

Additional reasons for the name Gatit are the song sung by the grape growers in the winepress.

This musical instrument was created in the Philistine city, Gat.

In this rainy season, the entire desert is covered with green grass that cheers the heart, and the flocks of sheep enjoy the fresh grass of the land and produce plenty of milk.
